Driver Dies After Two-vehicle Crash At Casino

A man has died following a two-vehicle crash in the state's Northern Rivers region yesterday.

Shortly after 9:30am yesterday (Monday 20 April 2026), emergency services were called to Queensland Road, Casino, following reports of a crash.

Officers from Richmond Police District attended and were told a Holden SUV, driven by an 83-year-old man, had collided with the rear of a Toyota SUV, driven by a 53-year-old woman.

The Holden SUV has then collided with a street sign before hitting a tree.

A passerby performed CPR on the 83-year-old man before being assisted by NSW Ambulance paramedics.

The man was taken to Lismore Base Hospital in a critical condition.

The 53-year-old woman was uninjured.

A crime scene was established and an investigation commenced into the circumstances of the crash.

As the investigation continues, anyone with information, including dashcam or CCTV footage, is urged to contact Casino Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

About 9.00am this morning (Tuesday 21 April 2026), police were advised the man died in hospital.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
