Driver disqualified until 2035 charged after fail to stop crash - Pyrmont

Police have charged a woman, who is disqualified from driving until 2035, after driving drunk, crashing her car, and fleeing from the scene earlier this week.

About 2.30am on Monday (5 August 2019), officers from Sydney City Police Area Command were contacted after a fail to stop crash in a car park at a licensed venue at Pyrmont.

Police were told security officers attempted to stop a Land Rover Discovery from leaving the car park, as they believed the driver may have been intoxicated.

The 37-year-old female driver refused to stop and crashed into another vehicle, before driving toward the exit.

Security then locked the boom gates to prevent the Discovery from leaving, and the woman abandoned her vehicle and was later picked up by a passing motorist.

Police stopped the vehicle on Wharf Crescent and submitted the woman to a roadside breath test, which returned a positive reading.

Checks on the woman's licence revealed she is disqualified from driving until 2035.

The woman was arrested and taken to Day Street Police Station, where she was charged with drive vehicle under influence of alcohol, drive motor vehicle during disqualification period, not give particulars to other driver, and negligent driving (no death or grievous bodily harm).

She was refused bail and is next due to appear at Central Local Court later today (Wednesday 7 August 2019).
