Driver Hits Parked Car At Netley

A drink driver blew nearly four times the legal limit after hitting a parked car at Netley overnight.

Police were called to Freda Street, Netley at 11pm on Saturday 15 August by reports of a crash.

A Mercedes Benz sedan had collided with a parked car, pushing it into a Stobie pole.

Neither the driver, a 26-year-old Hawthorndene man, nor his passenger, a 29-year-old man, were injured in the crash.

The driver recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.197 – nearly four times the legal limit.

He was reported for aggravated driving without due care and drink driving and will be summonsed to appear in court at a later date.

He was issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence.

His car was towed from the scene but not impounded as it was extensively damaged in the crash.
