A woman was caught behind the wheel - three times over the legal limit - following a crash in Blackburn South overnight.
Police were called to reports a car crashed into a fire hydrant, then into a fence on Faulkner Street about 1.10am.
The female driver was not physically injured.
Highway Patrol officers conducted an evidentiary breath test, where the 44-year-old woman returned an alleged reading of .178.
She had her license immediately suspended and is expected to be charged on summons with drink driving offences.
Officers are conducting roadside alcohol and drug testing at every opportunity over the Christmas period and into January as part of Operation Roadwise.
Police intelligence shows that December is the worst month for drink driving offences, recording the highest number of drink driving detections and the most collisions where the driver was over the blood alcohol limit.
Drivers should expect to be tested anywhere, anytime, knowing that if they run the risk, they will be caught.
