Driver sought after pedestrian struck, NSW

Police have appealed for information from the community following an incident where a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle at Fairy Meadow at the weekend, NSW Police say.

About 11.10pm on Saturday 3 November 2018, a vehicle was travelling east along Balgownie Road.

The driver stopped the vehicle near Meadow Street, after witnessing a fight between two young people who were walking along the northern footpath of Balgownie Road.

When the driver attempted to leave the area, the vehicle struck one of the young people, but continued east along Balgownie Road, towards the Princes Highway.

The 13-year-old male suffered a wound to his leg during the incident and was conveyed to Wollongong Hospital.

Officers from Wollongong Police District were alerted to the incident and are now trying to locate the vehicle and its male driver.

The vehicle has been described to police as being a grey or dark coloured SUV or utility.

The man driving the vehicle has been described as being of Caucasian appearance with short black hair and a thin build.

Investigators have appealed for anyone with information about the incident or with dashcam footage of the area on Saturday evening to come forward.
