Drowning and missing swimmer, Broadbeach

A woman has died, and a man is missing following a drowning incident in Broadbeach last night.

The man and woman, known to each other, were seen to enter the ocean along Old Burleigh Road at approximately 9.20pm.

At 10.15pm, police received reports that an unresponsive woman was located along the beach.

Upon arrival of emergency services, the woman was located and pronounced deceased at the scene.

Police with the assistance of Rescue 500, commenced a search and rescue operation, however the man was not located.

The search for the missing man has resumed with aerial assistance and personnel scouring the beach.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have information to contact them.

A report will be prepared for the coroner in relation to the woman.
