Drowning at Goolwa, South Australia

Police are preparing a report for the coroner following a tragic drowning at Goolwa.

About 8.40am Saturday 4 December police and emergency services were called to Sugars Beach after reports of a man and a teenage boy who were fishing on a sandbar were missing in the water.

A 16-year-old boy managed to swim to shore but sadly a 50-year-old man was located unconscious in the water by the Rescue Helicopter.

The man was brought to shore by Surf Life Saver but sadly could not be revived.
