Drug And Weapon Charges, Collingwood Park

Police have charged a 25-year-old man with multiple drug and weapon offences following the search of a vehicle in Collingwood Park on 26 June.

Around 5.40pm officers from Goodna Station were called to Banksia Street following reports of a man behaving erratically.

Upon arrival, officers allegedly located a man seated inside a 2008 Mitsubishi Outlander.

It will be alleged when officers spoke to the man, they detected a strong odour emanating from the vehicle leading them to conduct an emergent search.

During the search police allegedly located approximately 8.4 kilograms of cannabis, a large quantity of cash, an amount of MDMA, pharmaceutical drugs, drug paraphernalia and a large knife.

A 25-year-old Collingwood Park man has been charged with six counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of supplying dangerous drugs, possess anything for use in the commission of crime, possess S4 or S8 medicines, authority required to possess explosives, possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under Drugs Misuse Act and possessing a knife in a public place.

He has been remanded in custody and is due to appear before the Ipswich Magistrates Court on 15 July.

Investigations remain ongoing.
