Drug charges after car stopped in Wellington

A man has been charged after police allegedly located prohibited drugs during a vehicle stop in the state's Central West overnight.

About 2.20am today (Tuesday 6 August 2019), officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District conducted patrols of the Wellington township when they stopped a vehicle travelling along Thornton Street.

Police searched the two male occupants of the vehicle, allegedly finding prohibited drugs on one man, aged 37.

A further search of the vehicle allegedly uncovered plastic bags containing methamphetamine and heroin.

Ten grams of methamphetamine and a quantity of heroin was seized.

Both men were arrested and taken to Dubbo Police Station.

The driver, aged 29, was issued a future court attendance notice for suspended driver and was granted bail.

The 37-year-old man was charged with possess prohibited drug (x2) and supply prohibited drug.

He has been bail refused to appear before Dubbo Local Court today (Tuesday 6 August 2019).
