Drug charges in Alice Springs 6 May

A man will face multiple drug related charges after he was found in possession of a traffickable quantity of methamphetamine in Alice Springs at the weekend.

Just before 11pm on Saturday members of Strike Force Viper conducted a traffic stop on Larapinta Drive during which the 37-year-old male driver was subjected to a road side drug test.

The man returned a positive reading for methamphetamine and was subsequently arrested.

It is alleged a further search of the vehicle located a traffickable quantity of methamphetamine, a drug implement, a large amount of Australian currency, an edged weapon and a quantity of unknown tablets.

The man has been remanded in custody to appear before court on 17 June, 2021 on the following charges;

  • Possess traffickable quantity of methamphetamine - public place
  • Drive with drug in blood
  • Drive unlicensed
  • Possess tainted property
  • Administer dangerous drug to self
  • Possess drug implement
