Drugs, firearms located; man charged at Forster

A man has been charged with drug and firearm offences following a vehicle stop on the state's mid north coast at the weekend.

About 9.30am on Saturday (4 May 2019), officers from Manning-Great Lakes Police District were patrolling MacIntosh Street, Forster, when they stopped a Holden utility.

Officers spoke to the driver and during a subsequent search of the vehicle and the man, officers allegedly located and seized methylamphetamine, cannabis, cash, and drug paraphernalia.

The man was subject to a roadside drug test which allegedly returned a positive result to a number of illicit substances. He was taken for a secondary test which also returned a positive result, the sample has been sent for analysis.

Following further inquiries, officers searched a property in Bucca Wauka, where they allegedly located and seized three firearms, ammunition, cannabis plants and a small amount of cannabis leaf.

The 27-year-old man was taken to Forster Police Station and charged with three counts of possess prohibited drug, cultivate prohibited plant and three counts of possess unregistered firearm.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Forster Local Court on Monday 3 July 2019.
