Drugs found during vehicle search on Barrier Highway - Central North Police District

A man has been charged after drugs were located during a vehicle search in the state's north-west yesterday.

About 10.15am (Thursday 23 January 2020), officers from Nyngan Traffic and Highway Patrol Command stopped a silver Kia Optima sedan, on the Barrier Highway, about 20km west of Cobar, due to excessive speed.

Police spoke to the driver, a 23-year-old man, and during a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers allegedly located and seized cannabis, cash and a mobile phone.

The man was taken to Cobar Police Station where he was charged with supply prohibited drug and possess prohibited drug.

He was granted conditional bail and will appear before Bathurst Local Court on Monday 2 March 2020.
