Investigations are continuing and police are seeking help from the public after a fatal house in the state's mid-west last week.
About 6.40pm on Tuesday 24 June 2025, emergency services were called to a home on Mendooran Road, Brocklehurst about 10km north of Dubbo, following reports of a fire.
NSW Rural Fire Services officers found the house well alight, and worked to extinguish the blaze; however, the home was destroyed, and the structure collapsed.
A resident, believed to be a man in his 60s, was unaccounted for.
A crime scene was established by officers attached to Orana Mid-Western Police District.
Following an extensive forensic examination of the home, a body of a man was located.
The man has been identified as Kenneth Robinson, aged 62.
Investigating police trying to trace Mr Robinson's last known movements have confirmed he was last seen at a petrol station on Burroway Road, Brocklehurst, about 1.15pm on Tuesday 24 June 2025.
As part of those inquiries, Police are trying to establish how Mr Robinson returned home, as he did not have a vehicle and was known for walking great distances.
He was last seen wearing dark coloured trackpants, navy blue coloured jacket, and black/grey coloured joggers and carrying a red fuel container.
Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing and police are preparing a report for the information of the Coroner.
