Dubbo's First Resident Event Sparks Community Bonds

Community members are invited to attend the inaugural Dubbo Region Resident's Event on Tuesday 17 March at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre.

The evening, inspired by the previous New Resident Night events, is designed to assist residents feel informed, supported, and part of the local community, whether they have recently moved to the region or have called it home for many years.

Dubbo Regional Council Mayor Josh Black said the refreshed event format now caters for all residents who want to engage more with the community and find out what's on offer.

"In the past we've run this event for people new to the region, and they've been so successful that we thought we'd open it up for anyone who wants to connect with local businesses and community organisations, as well as meet fellow residents.

"I'm looking forward to hearing people's stories and seeing how excited and passionate they are about our area," Clr Black said.

The event is family friendly and offers a relaxed and informal setting.

Representatives from community groups, service providers, sporting clubs, volunteer organisations and Council services are on hand to answer questions and highlight how people can get involved in the community.

Craig Shannon and his family moved to Dubbo in November 2024 and attended the former New Resident Night event in 2025.

"Going to the event made us feel right at home. Meeting friendly faces and hearing local stories gave us a real sense of the community's support and how we can get involved.

"It's great to see Council opening this up for all residents – I'd encourage everyone to get along to it," Mr Shannon said.

The event is free to attend, but registrations are required. Residents can find out more and register at www.dubboregion.com.au

Local businesses, sporting groups, schools and community organisations are also encouraged to register a stall, providing a great opportunity to showcase what they offer and connect directly with new residents.
