DV Safe Phone's mission to keep survivors safe has reached new heights, with the charity recently securing a Guinness World Record for testing the most mobile phones in eight hours - an impressive 1,289 devices.
Building on this momentum, The Lott by Golden Casket is proud to announce a $50,000 contribution, made possible through unclaimed prize money, to support DV Safe Phone's vital work helping Australian domestic violence survivors access safety, security and connection.
Thanks to this contribution, 670 of these phones will be repaired and distributed, providing 670 domestic violence survivors with a vital tool for safety and independence.
Since 2020, DV Safe Phone has supported more than 18,000 domestic violence survivors by providing secure, untraceable phones that allow them to act, plan and reach out without fear of being tracked or controlled.
For every device collected or donated, DV Safe Phone's specialised team restores, tests and prepares phones for distribution to more than 550 partner organisations nationwide, including agencies, shelters, hospitals and police stations.
On average, a refurbished safe phone costs $75, but the impact of restoring connection at a time of crisis is immeasurable.
DV Safe Phone Founder and CEO Ashton Wood said access to a safe phone could mean the difference between isolation and support when it matters most.
"For a domestic violence survivor, no phone means no way to call for help, check in with family, organise safe accommodation, or receive vital updates from police or support services. It's complete isolation at a time when they need connection the most," he said.
"Donations from The Lott enable us to do better for Australians doing it tough - funding not just the phones, but the vital work that transforms them into tools of safety and freedom."
The Lott Senior Partnerships Manager Liz McPherson said The Lott was proud to continue its support of DV Safe Phone for a second year.
"DV Safe Phone continues to go from strength to strength, and its latest Guinness World Record demonstrates its commitment to making a difference," she said.
To help raise funds for domestic violence survivors and ensure every call for help is answered, Australians can purchase a Play For Purpose ticket in support of DV Safe Phone. At least 50 per cent of each ticket goes directly to the charity, while also offering the chance to win a First Prize Pack and hundreds of other prizes.
