E3 Strategy For More Energy Efficient Products

Dept of Climate Change, Energy, Environment & Water

The Equipment Energy Efficiency (E3) program has released a new strategy to guide its work to 2035. The E3 Strategy aims to improve energy performance and help make appliances and equipment more energy efficient.

The E3 program is a partnership between the Australian Government, states and territories and the New Zealand Government.

The strategy will help households and businesses by:

  • delivering more energy-efficient appliances and equipment
  • reducing energy bills
  • expanding access to trusted information on energy-saving products
  • helping stabilise the energy system by improving the way products use energy
  • reducing greenhouse gas emissions from appliance and equipment energy use.

The new strategy sets the direction for the program to 2035. It helps ensure energy efficiency regulations for appliances and equipment stay up to date with new technology, consumer needs and energy trends.

The E3 program developed the strategy during 2024 and 2025 with leadership from the E3 Steering Committee. It supports shared goals in Australia and New Zealand.
