Taking a look at tomorrow's weather map, we can see several low pressure troughs across the country, continuing to bring unsettled weather to some areas. Through the north, our low pressure trough is generating areas of showers and thunderstorms, mainly focused through Queensland, with a risk of flooding ongoing. An inland low pressure trough in the east will continue to generate building showers and storms through parts of New South Wales and Victoria.
Mostly settled conditions across much of southern Australia tomorrow, but another low pressure trough through the north-west of the country will bring some mostly dry storms to that area and also help to reinforce the building heatwave conditions through northern parts of the country.
Showers and thunderstorms continue across much of Queensland tomorrow as ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji continues to move across the northern inland. We could see some heavy falls once again from the north-west through central areas, pushing down to the Central Highlands and Coalfields, with flash and riverine flooding an ongoing risk. Cooler than average under the cloud and rain, but we could see some milder weather through the far south where skies are clearer. For Brisbane tomorrow, we're looking at a mostly sunny day and a top of 32 °C.
In New South Wales tomorrow, isolated showers throughout eastern districts becoming more scattered through the afternoon, with the chance of thunderstorms through central and southern areas. In fact, we could see some severe thunderstorms about parts of the southern ranges and the ACT during the afternoon, bringing the trifecta of severe weather impacts: damaging winds, heavy rainfall and large hail. It'll be a good idea to keep an eye out for any Severe Thunderstorm Warnings through Wednesday. Inland across New South Wales, we're looking at drier and sunny weather, but it certainly will be warm. For Sydney tomorrow, a shower or two is on the forecast and a top of 28 °C. Down in Canberra, showers, a possible thunderstorm and a top of 31 °C.
In Victoria tomorrow, partly cloudy on and south of the ranges with a few isolated showers moving through. Those showers will tend more scattered through Gippsland during the afternoon. We could also see the chance of a thunderstorm about the Eastern Ranges, potentially becoming severe through East Gippsland close to the New South Wales border. North of the ranges it will be more settled, drier and sunnier. We could, however, see some areas of smoke persisting over Victoria tomorrow, mainly across the north and the west. For Melbourne tomorrow, it will be a bit of a cloudy morning, but hopefully some sunnier breaks in the afternoon, with a top of 26 °C.
In Tasmania tomorrow, the chance of morning fog across the state. Then we'll see isolated showers, mainly focused through the east and the north, with generally low rainfall totals expected. Cooler than average conditions through the east, a little bit milder in the west. For Hobart tomorrow, we're looking at a possible shower or two and a top of 18 °C.
In South Australia tomorrow, hot, dry and sunny weather across much of the state, with temperatures pushing well above 40 °C inland. We could see some fresh winds at times in that south-easterly flow. A little bit of cloud across some of the southern coasts, with the very slight chance of a light isolated shower through the lower south-east. It'll be dry for Adelaide tomorrow though, with sunny conditions and a top of 31 °C.
In Western Australia tomorrow, hot to very hot conditions across the northern and central areas, with building severe to extreme intensity heatwaves. We could also see some mostly dry, gusty thunderstorms through parts of the north and central areas, pushing down into the Pilbara. More settled conditions are expected further south, with partly cloudy skies through the southern districts and a few very light isolated showers moving about the coast. Perth is looking at a mostly dry day with a top of 32 °C.
In the Northern Territory tomorrow, hot to very hot conditions, particularly through the central and southern areas where temperatures will exceed 40 °C once again. Heatwaves are continuing to build across the Territory, severe to extreme through the central and western areas. The chance of a thunderstorm moving across the Top End tomorrow, potentially gusty through the west. We could also see a few showers starting to develop across eastern parts of the Barkly and Carpentaria districts, associated with ex-Tropical Cyclone Koji approaching from the east. For Darwin tomorrow, it will be a mostly sunny day, the slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm, and a top of 34 °C.
