The gates of historic Bella Vista Farm have swung open for guests to enter a magical nocturnal garden in the heart of Sydney's north-west.

Echoes Moon Garden opens to the public tonight, the start of a month-long extravaganza of light and sound at The Hills Shire's most historic property.

Guests will journey through a breathtaking collection of immersive installations where flowers bloom with light, stars fall from above and creatures emerge from the shadows.

Mayor of The Hills Shire, Dr Michelle Byrne said Echoes was Western Sydney's answer to Vivid, offering families a fun and affordable night out close to home.

"Now in its second year, Echoes has quickly become an exciting addition to our annual Orange Blossom Festival, bringing historic Bella Vista Farm to life after dark," Mayor Byrne said.

"This year's Moon Garden will give thousands of residents and visitors the opportunity to experience the Farm in a completely different way, surrounded by immersive light, sound and spectacular installations.

"Echoes also has a highly anticipated food truck line up with Toby's Milkbar serving burgers and loaded fries, and Gelato Messina bringing a limited-edition, Orange Blossom Festival-themed flavour, Super Orange de Leche, plus much more.

"I'm thrilled we can bring an award-winning light and sound show to our residents and wider Western Sydney in partnership with Dural-based business, Laservision.

"This is the Hills' event of the year - don't miss out!"

Sessions will run Wednesday to Sunday, with additional Monday and Tuesday sessions during the NSW school holiday period. Low-sensory sessions with smaller crowds and lower-intensity light displays will also be available.

A free shuttle bus will run from 5:45pm - 10pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from Bella Vista Metro Station to Bella Vista Farm.
