Edgars Creek Trail upgrade underway

The upgrade of the walking and cycling path on the Edgars Creek Trail in Thomastown, between Main Street and Thomas Street, is now underway.

The existing sand path is being replaced with a 400 metre concrete path, which will join the existing concrete path near the Thomas Street Reserve Community Pavilion.

Council will also update the landscaping, add a rest area with seating, improve the drainage and install vehicle exclusion fencing for safety.

The work is expected to take up to four weeks to complete.

This upgrade of this walking and cycling path is the first stage in a project that will fill significant gaps in the city's off-road bicycle network. Once complete, the Edgars Creek Trail will run between the M80 Ring Road Trail in Thomastown and Craigieburn Road shared path in Wollert.

This project is supported by the Victorian Government's Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning as part of the Northern Metropolitan Trails Program. The program works with local councils to identify and fund off-road cycling and walking recreational trails in northern metropolitan Melbourne.
