Robbery and Serious Crime Squad detectives have charged an eighth man following an investigation into an alleged kidnapping in Greenacre.
About 8.30pm on Friday 17 February 2023, emergency services were called to Wentworth Street in Greenacre following a concern for welfare report.
Officers attached to Auburn Police Area Command attended and located a 30-year-old man with injuries to his hands, face and feet.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition and now requires ongoing medical treatment.
A crime scene was established before the investigation was taken carriage of by State Crime Command's Robbery & Serious Crime Squad under Strike Force Merrilee.
Inquiries revealed the man had been allegedly abducted and injured by a group of unknown men the previous day.
The incident was linked to two other kidnappings that occurred between Tuesday 14 February 2023 and Thursday 16 February 2023.
Police will allege three people were targeted as part of an ongoing drug dispute between an Organised Criminal Network (OCN).
Seven people have previously been charged and remain before the courts.
Following extensive inquiries, about 8.25am yesterday (Tuesday 12 May 2026), strike force detectives arrested a 39-year-old man in Kingsford.
Simultaneously, Raptor Squad officers executed a search warrant in Little Bay, allegedly seizing electronic devices and cash.
He was taken to Maroubra Police Station, where he was charged with take/detain in company with intent to ransom occasion actual bodily harm, wound person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, conspire and agree to murder any person, two counts of knowingly direct activities of criminal group, intentionally distribute intimate image without consent and conspiracy to take/detain person with intent to obtain advantage.
The man was refused bail to appear at Bail Division Local Court 6 today (Wednesday 13 May 2026).
