Elderly man assaulted during break and enter - Mount Annan

Police are appealing for information after an elderly man was injured during a home invasion in Mount Annan this morning.

About 3.45am (Friday 11 March 2022), a 73-year-old man was awoken by noises in his home on The Cascades, when he went to investigate.

Police have been told the man was confronted by two unknown males.

One of the males fled the scene before a short physical altercation took place between the second male and 73-year-old man, who was punched in the face and fell to the floor.

The second male then fled the scene.

Emergency services were called, and the man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics for bruising to his face and lacerations to his legs.

Officers from Camden Police Area Command attended and established a crime scene.

Initial inquiries have led police to believe a small dark-coloured hatchback, which was seen nearby shortly prior to the incident, may be linked.

As inquiries continue, police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident to come forward and contact Crime Stoppers.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers: 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au. Information is treated in strict confidence. The public is reminded not to report information via NSW Police social media pages.
