  • The Crisafulli Government has stabilised the elective surgery waitlist two months ahead of schedule, new data has revealed.
  • Over 142,000 surgeries have been delivered under the Crisafulli Government, with the waitlist falling by almost 3,500 since its 2024 peak.
  • The number of people on the waitlist fell by five per cent under the Crisafulli Government, as it heals Labor's Health Crisis.
  • The elective surgery waitlist increased every year under the Labor party and it is the first time in a decade there's been a decrease.
  • The Crisafulli Government is delivering health services when Queenslanders need them, and a fresh start for Queensland.

The Crisafulli Government has delivered on its commitment to stabilise the elective surgery waitlist within one year, with new data revealing a drop in the number of Queenslanders waiting for surgery.

It is one of the ways the Crisafulli Government is delivering for Queensland, by fast-tracking access to elective surgeries and restoring health services when Queenslanders need them most.

The former Labor Government left thousands of Queenslanders waiting in pain, with the elective surgery waitlist increasing year on year over its decade of decline.

The waitlist has now fallen by 5 per cent under the Crisafulli Government, with more than 142,000 elective surgeries delivered to improve quality of life for Queenslanders.

It means there are now almost 3,500 patients less on the elective surgery waitlist than there was when the waitlist peaked in 2024.

This drop, the first decrease in a decade, was made possible by the Crisafulli Government's $100 million Surgery Connect Surge investment, which referred an additional 12,000 public surgery patients to the private sector – free of charge - between February and June 30.

Following this success, the Crisafulli Government have extended this program through a record $1.75 billion investment, anticipated to deliver a further 30,000 surgeries in this financial year alone.

Along with stabilising the elective surgery waitlist, the Crisafulli Government is pulling every lever possible to reduce Labor's record high rates of ambulance ramping.

The Crisafulli Government is committed to curing Labor's Health Crisis by delivering easier access to health services for Queenslanders, with the fully-funded Hospital Rescue Plan to deliver more beds and more free healthcare than ever before.

Minister for Health and Ambulance Services Tim Nicholls said the Crisafulli Government was delivering the fresh start Queenslanders voted for, exactly as promised.

"We are delivering health services when Queenslanders need them, by stabilising the elective surgery waitlist and supporting our hardworking healthcare workers," Minister Nicholls said.

"We made a commitment to Queenslanders that it would happen in one year and we have kept our promise – two months ahead of schedule.

"We have never pretended it would be easy to cure Labor's Health Crisis, but these new figures show the Crisafulli Government is making major in-roads and the investment we're making to deliver more surgeries sooner is paying off.

"While we are seeing elective surgery down and important progress made on reducing ramping and delivering the Hospital Rescue Plan, there is much more to be done to restore health services when you need them, and we remain committed to delivering the fresh start we promised."
