Emergency crews responding to boat fire, Coomera

Two teenagers have been charged with arson after a house boat was destroyed by fire yesterday.

It will be alleged around 5pm, the men boarded the vessel which was anchored in the Pimpama River near the Colman Road boat ramp.

It will be further alleged the duo began damaging property and proceeded to throw furniture into the water before starting a fire.

They were arrested a short time afterwards and were taken to the Southport watch house.

Two 18-year-old men have been charged with arson and are expected to front the Southport Magistrates Court on July 23.
