Emergency crews responding to fatal house fire - Yamba

A woman has died following a house fire in Yamba yesterday.

About 9.15pm (Tuesday 27 June 2023), emergency services were called to a retirement village on Orion Drive, Yamba, following reports of a house fire.

The fire was extinguished by Fire and Rescue NSW, however it sustained extensive damage.

The resident – a woman believed to be aged 73 – was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics at the scene, however died a short time later. She is yet to be formally identified.

Officers attached to Coffs/Clarence Police District established a crime scene and commenced an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fire.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
