Emergency declaration at Balmoral

Police have declared an emergency situation in Balmoral under the provisions of the Public Safety Preservation Act.

Officers responded to an address on Collings Street at around 12:48pm following reports of a man in a unit making threats.

Preliminary investigations indicate the man is in possession of a firearm.

Officers established an exclusion zone at 1:35pm encompassing Bunawong Street, Grosvenor Street, Riding Road and Main Street (pictured).

Specialist police are on the scene and members of the public inside the exclusion are urged to stay inside.
