Emergency Exercise – West Coast Sunday 27 August, TAS

An emergency management exercise will be conducted on Sunday 27th of August on the West Coast Wilderness Railway between 10am – 4pm. , Tasmania Police say

The aim of the exercise is to increase awareness of emergency arrangements across agencies / organisations responding to an incident on the remote west coast.

"Emergency services on the West Coast will exercise their capabilities to respond to a complicated crash scenario, including the issues of accessing, treating, and evacuating casualties from the railway," said Inspector Shane LeFevre.

"There will also be a recovery element to the exercise with the West Coast Council deploying some of their community recovery equipment.

"The coordination and cooperation of emergency services in a remote location such at the West Coast is paramount to successfully responding to an incident," said Inspector LeFevre.

All emergency services will be involved in the exercise and people should not be concerned by the increased emergency service presence in and around the Queenstown area on Sunday.
