Emergency grants awarded to community groups

Isaac Regional Council has approved almost $10,000 in financial relief for local community groups under the Special Emergency Community Grants as part of Council's Road to COVID-19 Recovery Stimulus Packages, with more to follow in the near future.

Mayor Anne Baker said four organisations in Moranbah, Clermont, Glenden and Nebo would share in grant assistance totalling $9,360 to help them during the COVID pandemic and encouraged more community groups to apply.

"Local sporting and recreational groups, not-for-profit organisations and cultural groups who are doing it tough are encouraged to apply and can receive up to $5,000 under the grant," Mayor Baker said.

"With the introduction of social distancing rules and limitations on gatherings, it has meant the ability to fundraise and secure sponsorship opportunities has been completely cut-off for many groups."

"These grants may just be the difference in helping community groups overcome and survive the short-term economic instability to see them continue into the future."

Isaac Regional Council's COVID-19 Recovery Stimulus Packages complement the assistance already being provided by the Australian and Queensland Governments.
