The new Permanent Representative of Suriname to the Organization of American States (OAS), Marlon Mohamed-Hoesein, presented his credentials today to Secretary General Albert R. Ramdin during a ceremony held at the Organization's headquarters in Washington, DC.
During his presentation, Ambassador Mohamed-Hoesein highlighted that "Suriname remains deeply committed to the principles upon which this organization was established: peace, justice, solidarity, democracy, cooperation, and respect for the sovereignty and independence of states. These principles have stood the test of time and continue to inspire our shared vision for the Americas." He also reaffirmed "our strong commitment to the four pillars of the OAS, democracy, human rights, multidimensional security, and integral development, which together provide a framework for addressing the challenges of our time and building a hemisphere that is more secure, sustainable and prosperous for future generations."
For his part, OAS Secretary General Albert R. Ramdin said "we at the Secretariat stand ready to work with you in support of peace, democracy, governance and prosperity, together with regional cooperation and a strong institution of the OAS for the peoples of the Americas." He emphasized that the "active participation of member states remains essential to advancing practical solutions and preserving spaces for understanding and collaboration. I'm confident that your tenure will consist of constructive engagement within the Organization of American States and active participation in the various political bodies.
Ambassador Mohamed-Hoesein served as Suriname's Ambassador to Brazil from 2011 to 2020.
