Emergency Opening Shoalhaven Heads

Mechanical intervention at the entrance of Shoalhaven River Entrance (Shoalhaven Heads).

The water level at Nowra Boat Shed at 5:47 am on 10/02/2020 is at 3.0m AHD (Emergency Level). In accordance with the Shoalhaven Heads Entrance Management Policy, and subject to the safety of the machinery operators, Council will open Shoalhaven River Entrance (Shoalhaven Heads) entrance to the sea. People are requested to stay outside the work area and keep away from the edges of the dug channel and eroding banks following opening as these areas are very unstable and unsafe. It is expected that the low-lying areas around the lake will be subject to flooding and people should put in place their flood emergency plan. Council is reminding residents that anyone needing assistance should contact the SES on 132 500.

The water level at Lake Conjola at 3:08 am on 10/02/2020 is at 1.31m AHD (Emergency Level). In accordance with the Interim Lake Conjola Entrance Management Policy, and subject to the safety of the machinery operators, Council will open Lake Conjola entrance to the sea. People are requested to stay outside the work area and keep away from the edges of the dug channel and eroding banks following opening as these areas are very unstable and unsafe. It is expected that the low-lying areas around the lake will be subject to flooding and people should put in place their flood emergency plan.
