Families across Campaspe Shire are invited to Hopwood Gardens, Echuca, on Saturday, 25 October 2025 from 10am to 2pm for a free, family-friendly Emergency Services Expo designed to help the community prepare for emergencies in a practical, engaging way.
Campaspe Shire Mayor Cr Daniel Mackrell said the expo is a valuable opportunity for residents to connect with emergency services and gain practical knowledge in a relaxed setting.
"We know emergencies can happen at any time, and this event is about giving our community the tools and confidence to respond effectively," he said.
The event will feature interactive demonstrations, seasonal preparedness resources, and expert advice from a wide range of emergency service organisations. Attendees can learn essential skills such as smoke alarm maintenance, sandbagging techniques, storm preparedness, water safety, and more.
Cr Mackrell encouraged residents to take advantage of the wide range of local expertise available.
"From CFA and SES to water and power authorities, we've got a fantastic mix of stallholders ready to share advice and answer questions.
"With free kids' activities and plenty of hands-on demonstrations, it's a great way to learn while getting the whole family involved," Cr Mackrell added.
A highlight of the day will be the Council's Relief, Resilience and Recovery & Emergency Management team promoting the First 72 Hours emergency preparedness program, which encourages households to plan for the critical first three days following an emergency. The First 72 Hours stall will offer resources and activities to help families get started.
Creating a welcoming atmosphere for all ages, the event will feature free children's entertainment such as a jumping castle, face painting, and games, as well as a coffee van on site. The Port of Echuca will also be hosting a Country Fair on the same day, giving visitors even more to explore in the shared spaces.
