Enhanced Road Safety Grants Fuel Community Awareness

NT Government

As part of ongoing efforts to improve road safety outcomes, the Finocchiaro CLP Government is encouraging community participation through the Road Safety Grants program launched today.

Minister for Logistics and Infrastructure Bill Yan said over $100,000 worth of grants of up to $15,000 are available to local community groups to fund projects that improve or promote road safety in the NT.

"I welcome local Territory groups to come forward with fresh ideas that raise awareness and address road safety issues," Mr Yan said.

"These grants allow government, and the community to work together towards achieving improved road safety outcomes."

He said the funding cap was increased from $5,000 to $15,000 per applicant to encourage more participation.

"We want community organisations to put their hat in the ring knowing there's decent funding to make an impact," he said.

Minister Yan said projects would be considered that encourage responsible community behaviours and cultures, raise awareness of road safety issues, and promote safer practices among all road users.

"Ideas could include creating signage or banners, running social media campaigns, undertaking research, presenting workshops or hosting events that promote road safety," he said.

Grants will be available until the allocated funding is exhausted or until June 2026, whichever occurs first.

The program is open to all NT not-for-profit organisations, local governments, schools and sporting or community groups.
