Enriching lives this Seniors Week

Jo Palmer, Liberal Member for Rosevears

The Tasmanian Liberal Government is a proud sponsor of Seniors Week 2022 which runs from October 17 to 23.

With more than 350 different events across the State, Seniors Week is about encouraging older Tasmanians to get involved and try something new.

There's plenty on offer across the program, including learning meditation, a tour of the historical buildings at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery, a 3-day sailing experience, or learning multicultural dances.

I encourage all older Tasmanians to make the most of this fantastic schedule of activities.

The theme of this year's Seniors Week is Enrich, providing an opportunity for all Tasmanians to reflect on the important role older people play in their lives and communities.

It was great to meet participants and volunteers during a tour of the Bellerive Hub Open Day event today, with many exciting activities taking place throughout the day.

Importantly, Metro Tasmania will be on hand to assist in getting people to events, with Tasmanian Seniors Card holders able to travel for free during Seniors Week again this year.

Congratulations and thank you to the participating organisations who, along with COTA Tasmania, bring this event to life right across the state.

We look forward to hearing about all the ways older Tasmanians have enriched their lives and the lives of others this Seniors Week, and beyond.
