A Review of Environmental Factors (REF) for a proposal to construct the next section (Stage 4) of Orange’s Southern Feeder Road has found there are no obstacles to the road being built.
The REF investigation completed by independent consultants Premise is now on public exhibition for community comment. The REF outlines the scope of the project and examines the range of environmental issues associated with building the road.
While stages 1 and 2 of the road (from Anson Street east over the railway bridge to ) are now complete, construction work is set to begin in the coming months on stage 3. Stage 4 is still in the planning phase.
Stage 4 of the project is a 2.6 km section which runs from Anson Street west to Pinnacle Road. As well as new road, the section follows the current path of Shiralee Rd and Park Rd. The project includes a number of culverts and stormwater pipes where the road crosses waterways. It’s also proposed to install a potable water main alongside the new road.
As part of routine planning and design procedures, a Review of Environmental Factors is produced by independent consultants to examine the impact of the project. The report of that investigation is then available for community comment. A report on any community comments will then be presented to Council.
The REF documents may be inspected online or at the Customer Service Counter of the Civic Centre (ground floor), Byng Street, Orange during normal office hours, and on this page.
Submissions close at 5.00 pm on Friday, 11 September 2020. If you wish to make a submission, please quote “F3025 – REF – Southern Feeder Road (Stage 4)” in your correspondence. If your submission includes objections to the proposal, the grounds of objection must be specified.
When available, both the report and submissions may be viewed by any other persons with an interest in the REF.
The Review of Environmental Factors is a large document which can be downloaded in sections here.
