The NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) is pleased to announce the appointment of Adjunct Professor Mary Haines to the EPA Board, bringing a wealth of experience in public health, governance and policy to the state's leading environmental regulator.
Professor Haines is the Deputy Chair of the Sydney Local Health District and serves on NSW Government Audit and Risk Committees.
She has played a pivotal role in shaping evidence-based approaches to health and is an expert in public sector governance, bringing 13 years of board experience.
EPA CEO Tony Chappel said the appointment will enhance the organisation's ability to respond to emerging environmental challenges.
"We are delighted to welcome Professor Mary Haines to the EPA Board. Her expertise lies in policy, governance, strategy and research in health and social policy," said Mr Chappel.
"Professor Haines contributions will strengthen our leadership at a critical time for the environment and the communities we serve.
"She brings a strong commitment to collaboration and innovation, and I look forward to working with her as we continue our mission to protect and enhance the environment for the people of NSW."
Professor Haines has been appointed for a 5-year term, commencing June 2025.
The EPA Board provides strategic oversight and guidance, ensuring the organisation operates with transparency, integrity, and in line with community expectations.
