A new Medium Rescue Vehicle and Storm Trailer have been delivered to the NSW State Emergency Service (SES) volunteers of the Gunnedah Unit who have responded to five major flood events in the past two months.
Member for Tamworth Kevin Anderson said the new truck and trailer will be put to use straight away in the ongoing flood response.
"Our SES volunteers have worked non-stop over the past two months responding to flood after flood and I know this new truck and equipment will be very well utilised by the crew at Gunnedah," Mr Anderson said.
Minister for Emergency Services and Resilience and Minister for Flood Recovery Steph Cooke said the state-of-the-art truck and trailer will greatly boost the Unit's capability.
"Having the latest vehicle and equipment is essential to ensuring our volunteers can better respond to flood and storm events and protect communities, which is why the NSW Government has invested $116 million in the SES Fleet Replacement Program," Ms Cooke said.
SES Commissioner Carlene York said the truck and trailer will ensure that the volunteers have the necessary equipment to support their local community.
"Medium Rescue Vehicles are used widely by the SES for flood rescues and complex storm operations and this new equipment will further enhance our ability to provide our communities with the best level of support and service we possible can," Commissioner York said.
NSW SES Deputy Zone Commander, Superintendent Mitchell Parker, welcomed the new vehicle and trailer.
"These new assets for the unit will greatly enhance the ability of the volunteers to serve their local community more effectively," Superintendent Parker said.
