Escape from Federal Training Centre - Minimum-security unit

On February 15, 2019, during the 12:15 p.m. count in the minimum-security unit at the Federal Training Centre, staff members discovered that inmate Denis Bégin was not accounted for.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) immediately contacted the Sûreté du Québec and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.

Denis Bégin is 58 years old, measures 170 cm (5'7") in height and weighs 81 kg (180 lbs). He has a fair complexion, blue eyes and is bald. He has a surgical scar on his left arm and wears glasses. He is currently serving a life sentence for second-degree murder. He has also served two sentences for conspiracy to commit a criminal act.

Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Denis Bégin is asked to contact the police.

CSC will investigate the circumstances of this incident and is working with the police to locate the offender as quickly as possible.

CSC has given the police all of the information available to help arrest the inmate.
