Establishing Aboriginal Advisory Committee to help guide Council

Central Coast Council is calling on the local Aboriginal community to send in Expressions of Interest (EOI) to be part of their Aboriginal Advisory Committee.

The Committee has come about from the Central Coast First Nations Accord which is an agreement between First Nations Leaders and Central Coast Council. It aims to set an agenda that will guide signatories on how best to work together and further reconciliation.

The Accord sets a vision where Council can understand, acknowledge, and value the contribution of First Nations People and their enduring connection to Land and Culture.

The Aboriginal community is encouraged to be part of an Advisory Committee to help provide advice and feedback to us on issues that affect the community, improve their quality of life and address relevant social issues.

Council is seeking a broad stakeholder representation for this committee, with a mix of representatives from traditional ownership interests, community services focused on improving the quality of life of the local First Nations community, and community members identifying as Aboriginal.

EOIs for the Aboriginal Advisory Committee are open from Thursday 23 February to Thursday 9 March and can be done online at https://centralcoast.net.au/jobs/CEN3140
