Evade and successful road spike deployment of vehicle on Richmond Road, Cambridge

A man in his 50s has been taken into custody following an evade incident this morning in Greater Hobart this morning.

The driver of a white Holden utility was stopped by police on Macquarie Street around 7:40am. He provided a breath sample that exceeded the legal limit and drove away from the scene, evading police.

He travelled from Hobart across the Tasman Bridge to Rokeby and then Cambridge via Pass Road. During the evade drove into an unoccupied police car causing minor damage.

Road spikes were successfully deployed three times and he eventually stopped on Richmond Road at Cambridge and was taken into custody.

No one was injured in the incident.
