Ex-Dubbo Employee Charged in $250K Funds Theft

A man has been charged following an investigation into the misappropriation of business funds in the state's Orana region.

In March 2023, officers attached to Orana Mid Western Police District commenced an investigation into the misappropriation of funds within a Queensland-based business specialising in automotive parts.

Police will allege more than $250,000 worth of company funds was misappropriated during the period of January 2021 through to March 2023 by a Dubbo-based man who was an employee of the business at the time.

Following extensive inquiries, about 7am yesterday (Thursday 3 September 2026), police arrested a 45-year-old man on Port Kembla Road, Wollongong. He was taken to Wollongong Police Station where he was charged with 15 offences,

  • Use false document to obtain financial advantage etc (six counts)
  • Embezzle as clerk or servant greater than $5000 and less than or equal to $15000 (five counts)
  • Embezzle as clerk or servant greater than $2000 and less than or equal to $5000 (three counts), and
  • Dishonestly obtain financial advantage etc by deception.

He was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Wollongong Local Court on Tuesday 13 October 2026.
