The importance of cyber safety awareness will be discussed at a free community symposium in the City of Logan.
Online bullying and fraud, child grooming and sexual exploitation are among the subjects that will be highlighted by a panel of experts.
Registrations are now open for the annual Safe City Logan Symposium on Cyber Safety on Thursday, June 27.
Community members, industry professionals and university students are invited to register for this free event from 8.30am to 4pm at Griffith University's Logan Campus.
Key speakers include one of Australia's leading child protection advocates Hetty Johnston, from the Bravehearts Foundation Ltd, who will be the event's Master of Ceremonies.
She will be joined by Dr Jacqueline Drew, a senior lecturer with the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice and Griffith Criminology Institute at Griffith University.
Dr Drew holds a PhD in organisational psychology and will present on case studies involving romance and phishing scams as well as the 'psychological tools' offenders use to commit online crimes.
The program will also include Young Australian of the Year finalist Nicole Gibson.
Ms Gibson has been listed as one of Australia's top 100 most influential women and has made a significant impact in the fields of health and education serving as the youngest Commonwealth Commissioner for Health.
Detective Sergeant Chris Creedon from Taskforce Argos, which is the branch of the Queensland Police Service responsible for the investigation of online child exploitation and abuse, will also speak.
