Travel back in time for a captivating evening as Cessnock Library hosts 'Night at the Museum: Local History Uncovered!' on Thursday 30 October 2025, from 5.30pm to 7pm.

The free event will feature esteemed members and dedicated volunteers from Sir Edgeworth David Memorial Museum and Coalfields Local History Association Inc, and Greta Historical Museum.

These passionate people will showcase five of their most cherished historical objects, each accompanied by a compelling narrative. It will be a fantastic opportunity for the community to connect with local history, and discover the treasures nestled within these museums.

Acting Library Services Co-ordinator Amanda O'Hearn said the event promised to be an engaging and informative experience for all ages.

"We are absolutely delighted to offer this event to our community," said Ms O'Hearn.

"It's a wonderful chance to bring our local history to life, highlighting the incredible stories and artifacts held within our local museums.

"We encourage everyone to come along, learn about our shared past, and perhaps even be inspired to explore or contribute to these invaluable institutions."
