A new era for early years and kindergarten services is under way in Red Cliffs, with the community encouraged to get a first-hand look this weekend.

A Community Open Day planned for the new Red Cliffs Early Years Hub will provide a chance to explore the new Hub ahead of the 2026 school year.

Locals will be able to check out the new community spaces and visit the Sunraysia Toy Library's new home this Sunday 7 December from 10am to 1pm.

A free community barbecue and children's activities are also planned.

The new facility has brought Red Cliffs' early years services together under one roof.

The project, supported by a $6 million grant from the Victorian School Building Authority's Building Blocks program, replaced the previous kindergarten and Maternal and Child Health buildings with a modern facility - which was completed in March 2025.

Key features include:

  • Four kindergarten rooms which have doubled the number of local children attending kindergarten programs in Red Cliffs
  • Two Maternal and Child Health (MCH) and allied health consulting rooms, providing a state-of-the-art facility for MCH nurses to serve Red Cliffs families
  • Toy Library facilities - creating a modern and permanent home for the Sunraysia Toy Library
  • Multi-use community space
  • Breastfeeding room
  • Large foyer area

An upgraded kindergarten playground and new community outdoor space has also been delivered as part of the project.

Mayor Cr Ali Cupper encouraged the community to make the trip to Red Cliffs this Sunday and explore the new facility.

"This project was identified through some collaborative work with community, Council and Hands Up Mallee, with Early Years Census data indicating that Red Cliffs children were behind the rest of the Mildura LGA in almost all key developmental areas when they started school," Cr Cupper said.

"Thanks to this partnership and their work, we were able to build a compelling case for this facility - and we could not be more grateful to the Victorian Government for their support in helping us realise this vision.

"It truly is a wonderful facility - delivered by local builders and trades - and one that will service the Red Cliffs and wider community well into the future."
