With spring fast approaching, Hornsby Shire Council has unveiled its upcoming schedule of free guided bushwalks, aimed at providing an educational, safe and enjoyable outdoor experience, exclusively for Hornsby Shire residents.

The bushwalking program has something for everyone, with a wide range of events planned, some targeted at beginners looking to take an easy stroll, others to bushwalking enthusiasts looking for a challenging hike.

Bushwalkers will be sure to learn a lot on these outings, with knowledgeable guides and organisers providing fascinating insights into the natural and cultural history of the Bushland Shire. Upcoming guided bushwalks this spring include:

  • Wildflower Walk, Berowra Heights on 18 September
  • Wild Investigators Activity, Fagan Park, Galston (age 7-12) on 9 October
  • Beecroft Reserve Bushwalk, Beecroft on 25 October
  • Crosslands Reserve to Rockyfall Rapids Estuary Bushwalk, Hornsby Heights on 29 November.

Hornsby Shire Deputy Mayor Janelle McIntosh has encouraged residents to embrace the season and explore the Shire's natural beauty.

"Spring is the perfect time to reconnect with nature and discover the vibrant landscapes that make our Bushland Shire so special. These guided walks offer a unique opportunity to learn, explore and enjoy the outdoors with family and friends," said Deputy Mayor McIntosh.

The spring bushwalks are part of Hornsby Shire Council's rolling program of guided walks which showcase the Bushland Shire through the changing seasons. Programs are announced three times per year and are very popular – residents are advised to book early so they don't miss out. Bookings will open a month before each walk.
