Lara residents will have a better chance to go for a swim after school or work this summer, with the Lara pool to stay open for an extra hour each night.
As of 1 December, the pool will be open until 7pm from Monday to Friday – one hour later than the previous closing time of 6pm.
The extended operating hours will be in place throughout the summer months, finishing on 28 February.
The 7pm closing time is a continuation of the trial conducted in February this year, when the pool was opened for an extra hour in response to community feedback.
The pool will also stay open for an hour longer on weekends, closing at 6pm instead of 5pm.
The take-up this summer will determine the viability of the initiative in the long-term.

The Lara community has asked for the pool to stay open for longer, and after the trial early in 2019 it is excellent to see the extended weekday hours now in place for all of this summer, starting on 1 December. It's also really good to see an extra hour added on weekends as well.We hope to see good numbers taking up the opportunity to head for a dip during the extended opening times, as this will decide if they become permanent.
