Extra services will run on the Ballarat line giving regional passengers more options to get where they need to go over one of the busiest weekends on the state’s events calendar.
Ballarat residents will find it easier to enjoy everything Victoria has to offer this weekend as they head to Melbourne’s White Night, the Australian Boomers playing Team USA in a two-game basketball series or the last round of the AFL season offering up top of the table clashes.
White Night has been reimagined for 2019 with a three-night creative celebration that will show Melbourne in a different light after dark.
Ballarat line revellers will be able to catch scheduled late-night trains home and Night Coaches will be bolstered with extra services departing at 1:10am and 2:10am on Saturday and Sunday.
An additional train will run to and from Ballarat to help fans get to Sunday’s big AFL clash at Mars Stadium where the Western Bulldogs will look to secure a finals spot against Adelaide.
Basketball fans will be able to catch a special train home from each of the exhibition matches when the Boomers play host to Team USA at Marvel Stadium on Thursday night and Saturday afternoon.
Friday night’s match between Collingwood and Essendon, and Sunday’s clash between Richmond and Brisbane at the MCG will have a big bearing on the AFL finals.
A Friday night Ballarat train will depart later to allow Ballarat fans to travel to and from all games across the weekend without having to rush between the MCG and Southern Cross Station.
Bacchus Marsh passengers will be able to catch an extra coach on Friday afternoon connecting with a train at Melton, plus a special train will run from Southern Cross to Bacchus Marsh after the Sunday AFL match.
Fans and revellers can plan their journey and view the times of additional services by visiting the V/Line website.
