Extra Billions Secured For SA Hospitals

The Malinauskas Labor Government has secured billions of extra dollars for South Australia's public hospitals with an agreement reached at National Cabinet today.

The landmark agreement with the Federal Government will deliver record funding for state hospitals with an additional $2.0 billion of Federal money to be provided to South Australia's health system over the next five years, taking the total Commonwealth contribution to $15.2 billion.

The deal was struck following continued lobbying from the states led by the Malinauskas Government for a better funding deal from the Commonwealth for the public health system across Australia.

The agreement will help ensure South Australians can continue to access world-class health care at our public hospitals.

It builds on the Malinauskas Government's record investment of an additional $9 billion over the past four years for the state's health system.

It's been a busy four years for the Malinauskas Government building a bigger health system for South Australians.

The Malinauskas Government is building an extra 600 hospital beds for South Australians and has recruited thousands more health workers to staff them.

Since being elected in 2022, the Malinauskas Government has recruited more than 2,700 extra health workers above attrition including more than 1,400 extra nurses and more than 600 extra doctors.

The Government has built many new hospital facilities including the $314 million Clinical Services Building at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, the $134 million ambulance service headquarters and Adelaide Ambulance Station, and a $74 million upgrade of Noarlunga Hospital.

A re-elected Malinauskas Government will continue to build a bigger health system for South Australians.
