Extradition over DV assault near Casino, NSW

A man is due to appear in Lismore court tomorrow after being extradited from Queensland over an alleged domestic violence-related attack, NSW Police say.

Police had been searching for the 27-year-old man after a 24-year-old woman was allegedly assaulted at Muli Muli, 100km north-west of Casino, on Wednesday 24 January 2018.

Officers from Richmond Police District attended the scene and attempted to arrest the man; however, he fled and an arrest warrant was issued.

The woman required treatment for a deep cut to her leg as well as other injuries.

Following investigations, Queensland Police arrested the man on the outstanding warrant at Townsville on Sunday (3 June 2018).

Detectives from Casino yesterday (Monday 4 June 2018), travelled to Townsville and successfully applied for the man’s extradition.

He was taken to Lismore Police Station today (Tuesday 5 June 2018), where he was charged with reckless wounding, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, stalk/intimidate, contravene AVO, and resist arrest, as well as unrelated traffic matters.

The man was refused bail to appear in Lismore Local Court tomorrow (Wednesday 6 June 2018).
