Extradition sought after man arrested following shooting, NSW

NSW Police will seek to extradite a man from Queensland today after he was arrested overnight in relation to the murder of a man in the state’s north on Saturday, NSW Police say.

About 4.30pm (24 June 2017), police attended Tweed Heads District Hospital after receiving information a man suffering a gunshot wound had presented at the hospital.

The man died a short time later.

He has been formally identified as 31-year-old, Ace Hall.

Detectives from Tweed Heads Local Area Command, with the assistance of the State Crime Command's Homicide Squad, established Strike Force Varndell to investigate Mr Hall’s death.

NSW Police worked closely with officers from Queensland who overnight located a Toyota Corolla at a service station on the Mt Lindsay Highway at Jimboomba.

About 4.30am tomorrow Queensland Police arrested a 33-year-old man without incident.

He was conveyed to the Southport Watch House.

NSW Police investigators will seek to extradite the man from Queensland when he appears at the Southport Local Court Later today.

Inquiries by investigators attached to Strike Force Varndell continue with police urging any witnesses, or anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
