An Extreme Fire Danger Rating has been forecast for the Central region of Victoria, including Yarra Ranges, on Wednesday, 7 January 2026.
The following facilities and spaces will be closed as they are in high risk zones:
- Warburton Water World
- Warburton Mountain Bike Park
- Olinda Outdoor Pool
- Arts Centre Warburton
- Karwarra Gardens
- Birdsland Reserve
Other aquatic facilities will remain open as they are situated in Moderate Risk areas. Closing these high-risk facilities and spaces helps minimise non-essential travel and reduces traffic and potential hazards in these areas during extreme conditions.
Wednesday, 7 January has also been declared a day of Total Fire Ban. This means that no fires can be lit or be allowed to remain alight in the open air.
With high temperatures expected, please:
- Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water.
- Wear sunscreen and seek shade wherever possible.
- Check on loved ones, including children, elderly neighbours, friends with medical conditions, and pets, to ensure they're staying cool.
