Extreme Fire Danger Rating 8 January

Yarra Ranges Shire Council

An Extreme Fire Danger Rating has been forecast for the Central region of Victoria, including Yarra Ranges, on Friday 9 January.

These facilities and spaces in high-risk areas will be closed to help keep everyone safe:

• Warburton Water World

• Olinda Outdoor Pool

• Arts Centre Warburton

• Karwarra Gardens

• Birdsland Reserve

• Warburton Bike Park

Other pools and water play areas in moderate risk zones will remain open. Closing these facilities and spaces helps minimise non-essential travel and reduces traffic and potential hazards in these areas during extreme conditions. Check the full list here: Pools & Water Play Parks

Our Community Links at Healesville and Upwey will also be closed.

Our links at Lilydale, Monbulk and Yarra Junction will be open, so if you need to come and chat to our friendly team you can. You can always give us a call on 1300 368 333 if you have any questions. Please note, the Healesville Library will remain open.

Wesburn Transfer Station will operate on limited hours, open from 8:30am to 11am.

Friday, 9 January has also been declared a Total Fire Ban, meaning no fires can be lit or allowed to remain alight in the open air.

With high temperatures expected, please take care to stay cool and hydrated. Check in on neighbours who may need assistance, and don't forget water and shade for animals.

As always, please stay informed by visiting the VicEmergency website or following the CFA for the latest warnings and updates.
